Croptronix – Govipola

An Oensys Investments project, Croptronix- Govipola, launched its new website and the second version of its mobile application at Movenpick on the 28^th January 2019.

The founder Suresh Ellawala, an avid farmer himself, came together with Fortunaglobal and Oensys to establish Croptronix in 2018, and the company has since made great progress with Govipola, an app that creates a dynamic digital marketplace for farmers, and gives the buyers a certain amount of traceability to the food they consume.

The highlights of the event included the panel discussion where several notable figures came together to discuss their hand in the agriculture sphere and the steps their own company has taken in lessening the plight of our farmers, and the talk given by Suresh Ellawala himself on the conceptualization of Croptronix. A few artfully arranged crates of fresh fruits and vegetables lined the entrance to the event, and the audience was invited to take some produce home using the Govipola embossed tote bags being handed out.

All in all, the event was a great success and, technology-wise, a huge step forward for the farmers of Sri Lanka.
